The trio returns to Hogwarts, where ex-Auror Alastor “Mad-Eye” Moody will be teaching Defense Against the Dark Arts. Winky, Barty Crouch Sr.’s house-elf, is blamed for casting the Mark after she is found holding Harry’s wand, which was used to cast the Mark. The Dark Mark gets fired into the sky, which causes panic since it’s the first time it has been seen in over thirteen years. After the match, the Death Eaters, Voldemort’s followers, attack the site, causing havoc. There, Harry meets Cedric Diggory, who attends the game with his father, Amos. The next day the Weasleys take Harry and Hermione to the Quidditch World Cup using a magical teleportation object called a Portkey.
